El Manantial
The wood and tin houses from a slum on the Southern mountains of Bogotá converge towards a brick construction: El Manantial. The school receives every weekday 35 children. "It is the safest place for them, —says Gloria, one of the three teachers—. Here they play, they stay away from the drugs, and they eat what is probably their only meal during the day". The slum was built 30 years ago by the leftist M19 guerrilla. Today there are no hospitals, nor police, nor access roads. The kids walk. The three women climb the mountain. But every day all of them reach the school, the only place where some benefits from state arrive. "When kids grow up they either look for a better future or they charge society for what they’ve been denied —says Gloria— El Manantial is the biggest chance they have to tilt their choice for good".
The series was shot between 2017 and 2018.
